He has two older siblings named Cully Pratt and Angie Pratt. He grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington, where he attended and graduated from Lake Stevens High School.
After high school, Chris Pratt enrolled in a local university but later decided to drop out. Following this decision, he experienced a difficult period in his life, working briefly as a stripper and even becoming homeless while living in Maui, Hawaii. At the age of 19, while working as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant in Maui, he was discovered by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong. This chance encounter led to his first acting opportunity in the short film Cursed Part 3, marking the beginning of his professional acting career.
Chris Pratt later secured his first regular television role in the TV series Everwood, where he portrayed the character Harold Brighton for four seasons. His early film career included a supporting role in Wanted (2008), starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, and Angelina Jolie, where he played the best friend of McAvoy’s character.
In 2009, Chris Pratt gained widespread recognition for his role as the lovable but dim-witted Andy Dwyer in NBC’s sitcom Parks and Recreation, a role that significantly boosted his popularity. The same year, he married actress Anna Faris on July 9, 2009, in Bali. The couple has a son named Jack Pratt, born in 2012.
His film career continued to rise with notable performances in Moneyball (2011), directed by Bennett Miller, alongside Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. In 2012, he appeared in Zero Dark Thirty, written by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow, sharing the screen with Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton, and others.
The year 2014 marked a major turning point in Chris Pratt’s career when he starred as Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, in Guardians of the Galaxy. The film featured an ensemble cast including Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and Glenn Close. His performance established him as a leading Hollywood action star.
In 2016, Chris Pratt appeared in The Magnificent Seven, directed by Antoine Fuqua, alongside Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. The same year, he starred opposite Jennifer Lawrence in the science fiction thriller Passengers, where he played the role of Jim Preston.
Over the years, Chris Pratt has continued to build an extensive filmography, starring in major productions such as the Jurassic World franchise, Avengers: Infinity War, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the TV series The Terminal List.
