Paul Rudd was born on April 6, 1969, in Passaic, New Jersey, United States, as the son of Gloria Rudd and Michael Rudd. He has one sister named Julie Rudd. His full name is Paul Stephen Rudd. Due to his father’s job in the airline industry, he traveled extensively across the country during his childhood. He attended Shawnee Mission West High School in Kansas and later enrolled at the University of Kansas in 1987, where he began studying law and eventually graduated.
During his university years, alongside his academic studies, he received theater training and successfully graduated from the Drama Arts department of the American Academy in Los Angeles. He later participated in an intensive three-month program at the British Academy of English Theatre at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Michael Kahn. At the end of this program, Rudd performed at the Globe Theatre in the play Bloody Poetry, written by Howard Brenton.
Primarily known for his work in comedy films, Paul Rudd has appeared in numerous successful productions, including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Knocked Up (2007), Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), I Love You, Man (2009), Dinner for Schmucks (2010), Our Idiot Brother (2011), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), and This Is 40 (2012). On television, he portrayed Mike Hannigan, the boyfriend and future husband of Phoebe Buffay, during the final two seasons of the NBC series Friends.
Paul Rudd married Julie Yaeger on February 23, 2003. The couple has two children: a son, Jack Sullivan Rudd (born 2006), and a daughter, Darby Rudd (born 2010).
