Age: 26
Profession: Professional footballer
Place of Birth: Leeds, West Yorkshire, England
Erling Haaland was born on July 21, 2000, in Leeds, England, as the son of Alf-Inge Håland and Gry Marita Braut. He is of Norwegian origin, and his full name is Erling Braut Håland. At the age of three, he moved with his family to the Norwegian city of Bryne. Because his father was playing for Leeds United at the time of his birth, Haaland also holds a British passport; however, he chose to represent the Norway national team.
Erling Haaland began playing football at the age of five in Bryne, Norway. During the 2015–2016 seasons, he played for the reserve team Bryne 2, where he delivered an impressive performance by scoring 18 goals in 14 matches.
In 2016, Erling Haaland transferred to Molde, where he spent two years developing his professional career. In 2019, he moved to Austrian Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg. His extraordinary performances during the first half of the 2019–2020 season attracted significant attention across Europe, leading to a transfer to Borussia Dortmund for a fee of 20 million euros.
Erling Haaland made a sensational start to his Borussia Dortmund career. In his debut match, he entered the game as a substitute in the 56th minute and scored three goals while also providing one assist, contributing to a 5–3 victory. In his second match, he again came on as a substitute and scored two goals in a 5–1 win. By scoring five goals in his first two matches, he broke a record, achieving this feat in just 56 minutes of playing time.
Despite holding a British passport, Erling Haaland chose to represent Norway and played for all youth national teams. On March 27, 2018, while playing for Norway U-19, he scored a hat-trick in a 5–4 victory against Scotland. On July 22, 2018, he scored Norway’s only goal in a 1–1 draw against Italy at the 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.
At the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Erling Haaland made history by scoring nine goals in a single match against Honduras during the group stage, a record achievement. Although Norway won the match 12–0, the team failed to advance from the group. Despite not scoring in any other match, Haaland finished the tournament as the top scorer and won the Golden Boot.
Erling Haaland scored his first senior international hat-trick on September 11, 2020, in a UEFA Nations League B match against Romania. Norway won the match 4–0.
On May 10, 2022, Erling Haaland reached an agreement with Manchester City. After the payment of a 60 million euro release clause, he officially joined the club on July 1, 2022.
Standing 194 centimeters tall and weighing 88 kilograms, Erling Haaland plays for Manchester City. He scored 14 goals in his first 10 matches for the club and became the first player in Premier League history to score in his first four away matches.
Since leaving Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, Erling Haaland has scored 100 goals in 99 matches across all competitions, highlighting his exceptional scoring consistency.
