Zlatan Ibrahimović is a Swedish professional footballer of Bosnian-Herzegovinian descent. He was born on October 3, 1981, in Malmö, Sweden. His father, Šefik Ibrahimović, emigrated from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Sweden in 1977, where he met and married Jurka Gravić, who is of Croatian origin. Zlatan grew up in the Rosengård district of Malmö. His father is Muslim, while his mother is Christian.

Zlatan Ibrahimović began his football journey in 1987 in the youth academy of Malmö BI. In 1995, he joined Malmö, the club from his hometown. After spending several years there, his talent attracted the attention of famous Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, known for his interest in young prospects; however, Malmö refused to allow his transfer. In 1999, he signed his first professional contract with Malmö, one of Sweden’s most established clubs. Until 2001, he played 40 matches and scored 16 goals. His impressive performances drew international attention, and in 2001 he transferred to Ajax for €7.8 million, where he achieved significant success.

Between 2001 and 2004, Zlatan Ibrahimović appeared in 74 matches for Ajax, scoring 35 goals. Despite his young age, his speed and finishing ability stood out. With Ajax, he won the league titles in the 2001–02 and 2003–04 seasons, the KNVB Cup in the 2001–02 season, and the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2003.

During his time at Ajax, following an incident in an international match involving the Netherlands in which he was accused of intentionally injuring his Ajax teammate Rafael van der Vaart, the club decided to sell him, leading to his transfer to Juventus.

In 2004, Zlatan Ibrahimović joined Italian giants Juventus. He spent two seasons with the club, playing 70 matches and scoring 23 goals. Although Juventus won the league titles in the 2004–05 and 2005–06 seasons, these championships were later stripped due to the Calciopoli scandal, and the club was relegated.

After his €19 million transfer to Juventus, Zlatan Ibrahimović became a regular starter. Following Juventus’ relegation after the match-fixing scandal in the 2005–06 season, he transferred to Inter.

In 2006, Zlatan Ibrahimović joined Inter, another Italian powerhouse. Over three seasons, he played 88 matches and scored 57 goals. With Inter, he won three consecutive league titles in the 2006–07, 2007–08, and 2008–09 seasons, as well as two Coppa Italia trophies in 2006 and 2008.

In 2009, Zlatan Ibrahimović transferred to Barcelona. He spent only one season with the club before being loaned to Milan for the 2010–11 season.

In 2011, Zlatan Ibrahimović completed a permanent move to Milan. During his single season there, he scored 28 goals in 32 matches, leaving a lasting mark not only in Milan’s history but also in world football.

Following this performance, Zlatan Ibrahimović transferred to Paris Saint-Germain for €20 million. Between 2012 and 2016, he played 122 matches for PSG and scored an impressive 113 goals, dominating the league despite his advancing age.

With PSG, Zlatan Ibrahimović won four consecutive league titles in the 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15, and 2015–16 seasons, the French Super Cup in 2013, and the Coupe de France in the 2014–15 season.

Zlatan Ibrahimović became one of the most talked-about footballers in the world. In 2013, a goal he scored for the national team against England was selected as UEFA’s Goal of the Year, earning him the FIFA Puskás Award.

In 2016, Zlatan Ibrahimović transferred to Manchester United. Between 2001 and 2016, he also represented the Swedish national team, earning 116 caps and scoring 62 goals. He first played for the national team in 2001, became captain in 2010, and retired from international football in 2016.

In October 2019, a statue of Zlatan Ibrahimović was erected in Stadiontorget Square in Malmö, Sweden.

After Zlatan Ibrahimović announced in November 2019 that he had purchased shares in Swedish league club Hammarby, a group of Malmö supporters vandalized his statue in Stadiontorget Square, setting it on fire with flares.
