David Robert Joseph Beckham was born on 2 May 1975 in Leytonstone, London, England. He is the youngest of three children of Ted Beckham and Sandra Beckham. His father worked as a kitchen fitter, while his mother was a hairdresser. Beckham attended Chase Lane Primary School and Chingford Foundation School.

His football journey began in his childhood at Ridgeway Park, where he regularly played football with his father. This early passion eventually carried him to one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, Real Madrid. In 1992, he signed his first professional contract with Manchester United. He scored his first official career goal against Galatasaray. On 7 December 1994, while playing for Manchester United, he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League in a 4–0 victory over Galatasaray.

During the 1994–1995 season, Beckham was loaned to Preston North End. He returned to Manchester United on 2 April 1995. He scored his first goal in the English league in August 1995 against Aston Villa. One of his most iconic goals came in 1996, when he scored from his own half against Wimbledon.

In the 1996–1997 season, he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award. During the 1998–1999 season, Manchester United achieved a historic treble by winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League, marking a milestone in English football history.

In 2003, Beckham transferred to Real Madrid for a fee of €35 million, signing a four-year contract. On 1 July 2007, he joined Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer on a free transfer after not renewing his Real Madrid contract. He signed a five-year deal worth $50 million per year, becoming one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. At Los Angeles Galaxy, he wore the number 23 shirt.

During the 2007–2008 season, Beckham was loaned for several months to Italian club AC Milan. In 2004, he was named the world’s highest-paid footballer.

Internationally, Beckham earned 9 caps for the England national under-21 football team and 107 caps for the England national football team, scoring a total of 17 goals in senior international matches. He wore the number 7 shirt for Manchester United and England, and the number 23 shirt for Real Madrid and Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham established two football academies, one in London on 28 November 2005 and another in Los Angeles on 27 November 2009. His legs were insured for $70 million. He is also known for having numerous tattoos on his arms.

Marriage and Family: Beckham began dating former member of the Spice Girls pop group Victoria Beckham (née Adams) in 1997. He proposed on 24 January 1998. Their first child, Brooklyn Joseph Beckham, was born on 4 March 1999. The couple married on 4 July 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland, in a highly publicized wedding estimated to have cost £500,000. Their second son, Romeo James Beckham, was born on 1 September 2002 in London, and their third son, Cruz David Beckham, was born on 20 February 2005 in Madrid. Brooklyn and Romeo’s godparents are Elizabeth Hurley and Elton John. Their fourth child, daughter Harper Seven Beckham, was born on 10 July 2011 in Los Angeles.
