Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior was born on February 5, 1992, in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, Brazil. His full name is Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior. His mother’s name is Nadine Santos and his father’s name is Neymar da Silva Sr.



In 1999, Neymar began his football career in the youth academy of Portuguesa Santista. In 2003, he continued his development in the youth system of Santos FC. Neymar turned professional during the 2009 season and officially began playing at senior level. In his first professional season, he appeared in 33 Serie A matches, scoring 10 goals and providing 7 assists. With this impressive performance, he was awarded the Young Player of the Year in the Campeonato Paulista, also known as Serie A, in his debut season.

During the 2010 season, Neymar played 36 matches, scored 19 goals, and assisted 10 more, which brought him worldwide attention. Thanks to his outstanding performances in only his second professional season, major European clubs such as Real Madrid, Inter, and Chelsea included him on their transfer target lists.
