Amy Adams, born Amy Lou Adams, is an American actress renowned for her versatility across comedy, musical, and dramatic roles. She is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished actresses of her generation, earning critical acclaim for performances in both independent films and major Hollywood productions.

Amy Adams was born on August 20, 1974, in Vicenza, Italy, as the daughter of American parents Kathryn Adams and Richard Adams. She is one of seven siblings and has a brother named Eddie Adams. Around the age of eight, her family moved to Colorado in the United States. She attended Douglas County High School.

Initially aspiring to become a ballerina, Amy Adams also sang in her school choir. As her hopes of pursuing ballet professionally faded, she decided to focus on musical theater. In the following years, she worked various jobs, including waitressing, while continuing to sing at the venues where she worked.
