Jesse Eisenberg
Born on October 5, 1983
Age: 43
Profession: Actor, Writer
Place of Birth: Queens, New York City, United States
Jesse Eisenberg was born on October 5, 1983, in Queens, New York City, United States, as the son of Barry Eisenberg and Amy Fishman, an Ashkenazi Jewish couple. His mother worked professionally as a children’s birthday party clown. He has two sisters, Hallie Eisenberg and Kerri Eisenberg. Jesse Eisenberg grew up in East Brunswick Township, New Jersey, where he spent most of his childhood.
Musically inclined from an early age, Jesse Eisenberg has been playing the drums since the age of eight. He attended Churchill Junior High School, Hammarskjold Middle School, The New School, and East Brunswick High School. During these years, he developed a strong interest in acting and performance alongside his academic studies.
Jesse Eisenberg made his on-screen debut between 1999 and 2000 in the comedy-drama television series Get Real, marking the beginning of his professional acting career. He gradually gained recognition through independent films before achieving global prominence in 2010 with The Social Network. In the film, he portrayed Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, a performance that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
Despite his iconic portrayal of the creator of Facebook, Jesse Eisenberg does not have a Facebook account. He first learned what Facebook was during the filming of Zombieland in 2009, when a crew member explained the platform to him in detail. When he later received the offer for The Social Network, his knowledge of Facebook was limited to what he had learned on that film set.
In 2013, Jesse Eisenberg starred in the ensemble thriller Now You See Me, sharing leading roles with Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Mélanie Laurent, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Common, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman. The same year, he appeared in the psychological drama The Double, adapted from the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, where he starred opposite Mia Wasikowska. Following the film, the two actors began a romantic relationship.
An avid cyclist who enjoys riding through New York City, Jesse Eisenberg has often expressed his love for animals, particularly cats. He has also spoken openly about living with obsessive-compulsive disorder, contributing to broader conversations about mental health awareness.
In 2015, Jesse Eisenberg starred alongside Amy Ryan and Ruby Jerins in the drama film Louder Than Bombs. His career reached a major blockbuster milestone in 2016 when he portrayed Lex Luthor, one of Superman’s most iconic enemies, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the film, he appeared alongside Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, and Jason Momoa.
He later reprised the role of Lex Luthor in Justice League, further cementing his association with the DC Extended Universe and reinforcing his reputation as an actor capable of portraying complex and unconventional antagonists.
