Demi Moore, born under the name Demetria Gene Guynes on November 11, 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico, spent her childhood years in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Her biological father, Charles Harmon, left her mother, Virginia, only two months after their marriage, at a time when Demi Moore had not yet been born.

After her mother married Danny Guynes, she took his surname. Due to her stepfather’s frequent job changes, the family relocated many times. Both her mother and stepfather struggled with alcoholism, and the household was marked by ongoing domestic violence. In 1980, her stepfather attempted suicide. During her early childhood, Demi Moore underwent several eye surgeries and was required to wear an eye patch for a period. In 1976, she moved with her family to Los Angeles.

At the age of sixteen, Demi Moore left Hollywood Fairfax High School to pursue an acting career, after being persuaded by her friend Nastassja Kinski. She then began working as a model in Europe. In the early 1980s, a series of nude photographs taken during this period resurfaced and were published in a North American tabloid magazine after she became a star.

Her film debut came in 1982 with the three-dimensional science fiction film Parasite. She gained wider recognition by appearing in the popular ABC television soap opera General Hospital, where she acted between 1982 and 1983. Throughout the 1980s, Demi Moore appeared in various youth-oriented films, steadily building her career.

By 1990, following a string of consecutive box-office successes, Demi Moore had become one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses, firmly establishing herself as a leading figure in the American film industry.

The 1990 production Ghost , A Few Good Men (1992), in which she starred alongside Tom Cruise, Indecent Proposal , where she appeared with Robert Redford and Woody Harrelson, and the 1994 film Disclosure , co-starring Michael Douglas, were among the films that defined this highly successful period of Demi Moore’s career. Reaching fees as high as 10 million dollars per film, Demi Moore also turned down the leading role offered to her in Basic Instinct.

However, the films she made afterward—The Scarlet Letter (1995), The Juror (1996), Striptease (1996), and G.I. Jane (1997)—did not achieve the level of success she had expected. Following these projects, Demi Moore took a break from filmmaking for a period. In 2003, she returned to the spotlight with her role in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle , the sequel to *Charlie’s Angels*, drawing renewed attention with her youthful appearance and physical fitness.

In August 1991, while seven months pregnant, Demi Moore posed nude for the cover of *Vanity Fair* magazine. The photographs generated intense media attention, and following this highly publicized event, many other celebrities began posing nude during pregnancy.

Demi Moore began dating rock musician and songwriter Freddy Moore in 1979 and married him in February 1980, when she was eighteen years old. Although the marriage lasted six years, she continued to use his surname professionally. Toward the end of this marriage, she began a relationship with actor Emilio Estevez, and after her divorce, she remained engaged to him for two years.

While appearing in the television series General Hospital, Demi Moore also had a relationship with actor John Stamos. On November 21, 1987, after only three months of acquaintance, she married actor Bruce Willis. The couple had three daughters together: Rumer Glenn (born August 16, 1988), Scout Larue (born July 20, 1991), and Tallulah Belle (born February 3, 1994). Their marriage ended in divorce in 2000.
