Amber Heard was born on April 22, 1986, in Austin, Texas, to Paige Parsons and David Heard. She has two sisters. At the age of seventeen, she dropped out of high school and moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career. She later relocated to Los Angeles, where she began focusing on acting.

In 2010, Heard was ranked 13th on Maxim's “100 Sexiest Women” list. She gained early attention with her role in Never Back Down, released in 2008, where she starred alongside Sean Faris, Cam Gigandet, and Djimon Hounsou. The film received recognition at the MTV Awards. Earlier, her performance in All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2010, Heard met actor Johnny Depp on the set of The Rum Diary. The couple married on February 3, 2015. In May 2016, Heard filed for divorce citing domestic abuse allegations, and the marriage officially ended on January 13, 2017. Following a highly publicized and contentious legal process with Depp, Heard later relocated to Madrid, Spain.

Heard publicly stated that she is bisexual on April 19, 2012, after previously attending events with photographer Tasya van Ree. Between late 2016 and August 2017, she was in a relationship with entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Heard achieved major global visibility with her role as Mera in Aquaman, directed by James Wan, co-starring Jason Momoa. She reprised the role in subsequent DC productions, including Justice League and its director’s cut, as well as the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, appearing alongside Patrick Wilson, Ben Affleck, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren, Nicole Kidman, and Jani Zhao.

Heard became a mother via surrogate in April 2021 to a daughter named Oonagh Paige Heard. On May 11, 2025, she announced via Instagram that she had welcomed twin children—a daughter named Agnes and a son named Ocean.
