Olga Kurylenko, whose full name is Olga Konstantinovna Kurylenko, was born on November 14, 1979, in Berdyansk, Ukraine. Her mother, Marina Alyabysheva, is an art teacher. Her parents divorced when Olga was very young, separating her from her father, Konstantin Kurylenko. During her childhood, she attended a local school where she received music and piano lessons.
At the age of thirteen, Kurylenko moved to Moscow for educational purposes, where she was discovered and began her career as a fashion model. She received professional modeling training, and at sixteen relocated to Paris. Within six months, she learned French and signed with the Madison Model Agency. At eighteen, she appeared on the cover of Glamour, later becoming the face of major brands such as Lejaby, Bebe, Clarins, and Helena Rubinstein. In 2001, she was granted French citizenship.
Her rapid rise in the fashion industry led her to grace the covers of prestigious magazines including Elle, Madame Figaro, Marie Claire, and Vogue.
In 1999, Kurylenko married French photographer Cedric Van Mol. The marriage lasted four years, ending in divorce in 2004.
She began her acting career in 2005, starring in her first leading role in The Ring Finger. In 2007, she appeared as Nika Boronina in Hitman, sharing the screen with Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott, and Robert Knepper. That same year, she served as a jury member at the Brussels International Film Festival.
In 2008, Kurylenko played Natasha Sax in Max Payne, acting alongside Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Beau Bridges. Her major international breakthrough came the same year when she starred opposite Daniel Craig in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
She continued to build her film career with prominent roles, including starring alongside Michael Fassbender in Centurion (2010), appearing with Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman in Oblivion (2013), and sharing the screen with Russell Crowe in the Australia–Turkey–United States co-production The Water Diviner (2014), which also featured Jai Courtney, Cem Yılmaz, and Yılmaz Erdoğan.
In 2017, she starred in Salty alongside Antonio Banderas and Mark Valley. In 2018, she appeared opposite Rowan Atkinson in Johnny English Strikes Again.
Fluent in Russian, English, and French, Kurylenko also speaks Spanish and Italian.
Her personal life includes two marriages: first to photographer Cedric Van Mol (2000–2004), and later to Damian Gabrielle (2006–2007). She later lived with writer and actor Max Benitz, with whom she has a son, Alexander Mark Horatio Benitz, born on October 3, 2015. Kurylenko currently lives with actor Ben Cura. She resides in France and holds French citizenship.
On March 5, 2020, Kurylenko announced that she had tested positive for COVID-19. After two weeks of recovery at home, she stated that she had recovered while resting and consuming garlic and lemon-infused water.
