Story Overview

The Water Diviner tells the story of Connor, an Australian farmer portrayed by Russell Crowe, who travels to Turkey in 1919, in the aftermath of the Gallipoli Campaign. Haunted by loss, Connor arrives in a foreign land with a single purpose: to find the three sons who went missing during the brutal war.

Settling in Gallipoli, Connor begins an arduous search across battle-scarred landscapes where countless lives were lost. Gifted with an extraordinary ability to locate water beneath the earth, he uses his skills and intuition in the hope of uncovering any trace that might lead him to his children.
