Margot Robbie was born on July 2, 1990, in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. She grew up in Gold Coast and graduated from Somerset College in 2007. After completing her education, she moved to Melbourne to pursue a professional acting career.

She has been working as a professional actress since 2007 and has also appeared in various advertising campaigns. In June 2008, she became widely known in Australia for her role as Donna Freedman in the television soap opera Neighbours, which aired nationally. Her performance in the series earned her two nominations for the Logie Awards.

In 2011, she transitioned to Hollywood and moved to Los Angeles. After arriving there, she auditioned for the series Charlie’s Angels. That same year, she appeared in the ABC television series Pan Am, where she portrayed the character Laura Cameron.

In 2014, she met director Tom Ackerley while working on the film Suite Française, and the couple married in December 2016.
