The 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be held in the Swiss town of Davos from January 19 to 23. Taking place under the theme “Spirit of Dialogue,” the summit is expected to host around 3,000 participants from 130 countries, along with a record number of senior political leaders.

Record-level political participation

The summit is expected to bring together 65 heads of state and government, 55 ministers of economy and finance, 33 foreign ministers, 34 ministers of trade and industry, and 11 central bank governors. With this level of attendance, Davos is set to see the highest number of senior government representatives in the history of the WEF annual meetings.

Leaders expected to attend

Leaders scheduled to attend include Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, Ursula von der Leyen, Javier Milei, Prabowo Subianto, Ahmed Şara, Pedro Sanchez, Guy Parmelin, Ilham Aliyev, Gustavo Petro and Vladimir Zelenskiy. Trump is expected to deliver a speech on January 21 and to be accompanied by Marco Rubio, Scott Bessent and Jamieson Greer.

Global institutions and business leaders in Davos

Senior figures from international organizations will also take part, including António Guterres, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Ajay Banga, Kristalina Georgieva, Mark Rutte, Fatih Birol and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. In addition, around 850 chief executive officers and board chairs from leading global companies are expected to attend.

Business representatives from Türkiye

Türkiye will be represented by Tosyalı Holding Chairman Fuat Tosyalı and Sabancı Holding Chief Executive Officer Kıvanç Zaimler.

Geopolitical risks and artificial intelligence on the agenda

More than 200 sessions will address key global issues such as geopolitical fragmentation, global debt, economic stability, sustainability and artificial intelligence. Strengthening public–private cooperation and unlocking new sources of growth are among the summit’s main priorities.

Search for new WEF president continues

Following the resignation of WEF founder Klaus Schwab in April 2025, the forum is continuing its search for a new president. After Schwab’s departure, Larry Fink and Andre Hoffmann were appointed as interim co-chairs, while efforts to appoint a permanent successor remain ongoing.
