Giorgia Meloni was born on January 15, 1977, in Rome, Italy. Her father, Francesco Meloni, was from Sardinia, and her mother, Anna Paratore, was from Sicily. Her father, a tax consultant, left the family when Giorgia Meloni was eleven years old. She has an older sister named Arianna Meloni. Giorgia Meloni grew up in the Garbatella district of Rome.



Giorgia Meloni is an Italian journalist and politician who serves as the leader of the nationalist conservative political party Brothers of Italy and as president of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party. She entered politics at the age of fifteen in 1992 by joining the Youth Front, the youth wing of the national conservative Italian Social Movement. During this period, she founded the student coordination group Gli Antenati (The Ancestors), which protested against the public education reform promoted by Minister Rosa Russo Iervolino.

In 1996, Giorgia Meloni became the national leader of Student Action, the student movement of the National Alliance, the right-wing successor to the Italian Social Movement. She represented this movement within the Forum of Student Associations established by the Italian Ministry of Education. In the same year, she graduated from the Amerigo Vespucci Institute.

During these years, Giorgia Meloni worked at the Piper Club, one of Rome’s most famous nightclubs, holding various jobs including nanny, waitress, and bartender.

After winning the primaries in 1998, Giorgia Meloni was elected as a member of the Province of Rome, a position she held until 2002. In 2000, she was elected to the national executive, and in 2004 she became the first female president of the party’s youth wing, the Youth Movement. She later joined the Forza Italia party and served as Minister for Youth, before becoming one of the founders of the Brothers of Italy party.

Giorgia Meloni also served as Minister for Youth in the fourth government of Silvio Berlusconi and as president of Young Italy, the youth organization of the People of Freedom party.

Together with Guido Crosetto and Ignazio La Russa, Giorgia Meloni co-founded the right-wing Brothers of Italy party, and on March 8, 2014, she was elected party leader. She has been a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies since 2006.

Giorgia Meloni lives with her partner, television journalist Andrea Giambruno, and has a daughter named Ginevra Giambruno, born on September 16, 2016.

Following the resignation of Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who submitted his resignation to President Sergio Mattarella on July 22, 2022, early elections were scheduled for September 25, 2022. Giorgia Meloni ran as a candidate in these elections.

In the early election held on September 25, 2022, Giorgia Meloni became the new Prime Minister of Italy.
