Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Emerging from a remote village in Kazakhstan, Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) sets out on an ambitious journey to the United States, determined to create a documentary that will showcase American culture for the “benefit” of his homeland. Accompanied by his crude and often bewildered producer Azamat Bagatov (Ken Davitian), Borat embarks on a cross-country expedition filled with unpredictable encounters and cultural misunderstandings.

As Borat navigates unfamiliar social norms, his outrageous behavior and deeply ingrained prejudices collide with real people, producing reactions that are as shocking as they are revealing. What begins as a satirical exploration of American life gradually evolves into a biting critique of societal attitudes, exposing hidden biases and contradictions within modern Western culture.

Blending improvised interactions with scripted satire, the film pushes boundaries through its fearless humor and controversial themes. Beneath its absurdity lies a sharp commentary on identity, media, and the fragile line between ignorance and intolerance—making it one of the most provocative comedies of its time.
