At the age of 16, Melania Trump began her modeling career, and two years later she signed with a modeling agency in Milan. Although she enrolled at the University of Ljubljana, she left after one year to focus fully on modeling. For several years prior to 2006, she had publicly stated that she earned a degree in architecture and design from the university, a claim later revealed to be inaccurate.

During the early stages of her modeling career, Melania Trump worked extensively in Milan and Paris before relocating to New York City in 1996. In New York, she established herself steadily in the fashion industry, collaborating with renowned photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier and Helmut Newton. Her work appeared on the covers of prominent magazines including Harper’s Bazaar (Bulgaria), Vanity Fair (Italy), GQ—where she posed nude in January 2000—and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Melania Trump met her future husband Donald Trump at a fashion party in New York in 1998. Although she initially declined to date him, the relationship eventually developed, and the couple became engaged in 2004. They were married the following year in a lavish ceremony held in Palm Beach, Florida. The wedding was attended by numerous celebrities and notable figures, including Shaquille O'Neal, Barbara Walters, Kelly Ripa, Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, as well as Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, who was serving as a United States Senator from New York at the time.

In 2006, Melania Trump gave birth to her son Barron William Trump, who is Donald Trump’s fifth child. That same year marked another significant milestone in her life, as she officially became a citizen of the United States.
