Story Overview

Sin City welcomes you to a city of corruption, brutality, darkness, and broken hearts. It is a place ruled by seductive gangs, merciless killers, and rotten police forces, where some live only for revenge while others struggle simply to survive another day.

Co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, with Quentin Tarantino contributing as a guest director, Sin City is a bold cinematic adaptation of Frank Miller’s legendary graphic novel series of the same name. The film translates Miller’s stark, high-contrast visual style and hard-boiled storytelling directly onto the screen, creating a unique neo-noir experience.

The narrative unfolds through three interwoven stories, each centered on a different character. Marv (Mickey Rourke), a brutal yet strangely honorable street fighter, spends a single night with the angelic Goldie, only to wake up beside her murdered body. Framed as the prime suspect, Marv becomes the target of the entire police force, driven by a single purpose: revenge.

Private detective Dwight (Clive Owen) tries to stay out of trouble, but trouble inevitably finds him. After the murder of a police officer, Dwight is forced to take action to protect the women he cares about, pulling him deeper into the city’s violent power struggles and moral gray zones.

The third story follows Hartigan (Bruce Willis), the only truly honest cop left in the city. On the final day of his career, he risks everything to rescue an 11-year-old girl from the sadistic son of a powerful senator. What begins as an act of heroism soon spirals into a tragic and unexpected chain of events that will haunt him for years.

Featuring a remarkable ensemble cast including Elijah Wood, Nick Stahl, Michael Madsen, and Michael Clarke Duncan, Sin City stands as one of modern cinema’s early masterpieces—an uncompromising, stylized descent into violence, morality, and the cost of justice in a world where innocence is a rare and fragile thing.
