Plot Summary

Serving as the direct continuation of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug follows Thorin Oakenshield and his company after their perilous crossing of the Misty Mountains, as their quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain grows increasingly dangerous and morally complex.

Forced to traverse the dark and treacherous realm of Mirkwood without the guidance of Gandalf, the group faces unseen threats that test both their unity and their resolve. As the forest tightens its grip, survival depends not on strength alone, but on trust, wit, and endurance.
