Manglehorn (2015)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Manglehorn is an intimate character study about loss, regret, and the quiet possibility of renewal.

A.J. Manglehorn (Al Pacino) is a solitary locksmith haunted by memories of the great love he lost decades ago. Nearly forty years after his heart was broken, he still cannot let go of Clara—the woman who once defined his life. Writing letters to her has become a daily ritual, a way of keeping the past alive and protecting himself from the vulnerability of the present.

Living a withdrawn existence, Manglehorn finds comfort only in routine, his estranged relationship with his son, and the companionship of his cat. Yet beneath his stubborn isolation lies a man standing at the edge of change, uncertain but quietly yearning for connection.

As he embarks on a modest and reflective journey, Manglehorn begins to open himself to the possibility of a new beginning. With the presence of a gentle new friend and the slow mending of fractured bonds, he is forced to confront whether clinging to lost love is worth the cost of a life unlived.

Marked by restraint and emotional subtlety, Manglehorn explores the fragile space between memory and hope, offering a poignant meditation on aging, forgiveness, and the courage it takes to start over.
