Story Overview

Fracture centers on a meticulously planned murder that evolves into a high-stakes battle of intellect between two formidable minds.

Ted Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) discovers that his much younger wife Jennifer (Embeth Davidtz) is having an affair. In response, he executes what appears to be a flawless plan to kill her. When the police arrive at the crime scene, Detective Rob Nunally (Billy Burke) is the only officer authorized to enter the house. Crawford calmly confesses to the shooting, but Nunally is horrified to realize that the gravely wounded woman is his secret lover.

Although Jennifer has been shot at close range, she is still alive, leaving the case riddled with legal and moral complications. Crawford’s unexpected confession draws the attention of ambitious deputy district attorney Willy Beachum (Ryan Gosling), who sees the case as a career-defining opportunity on his path to professional success.

As Beachum pursues the truth, he becomes entangled in a seductive relationship with the driven defense attorney Nikki Gardner (Rosamund Pike). The lure of power, success, and desire begins to cloud his judgment, threatening to compromise both his ethics and his future.
