Rachel Weisz is a British actress born in 1970. She gained worldwide recognition with her role as Evelyn Carnahan in The Mummy (1999) and its sequel, and later established herself as one of the most respected actresses of her generation through award-winning dramatic performances.

Rachel Hannah Weisz was born on March 7, 1970, in London, England. Her mother, Edith Ruth, was Austrian, and her father, George Weisz, was Hungarian and of Jewish descent. Her father fled Hungary to England at the outbreak of World War II. Following her parents’ divorce, Weisz was raised primarily in London. After completing high school, she studied at the University of Cambridge.

Weisz began modeling at the age of 14 and appeared on the covers of major fashion magazines throughout her career, including Vogue and Esquire. In 1991, she worked with the theater group Talking Tongues, marking the beginning of her serious engagement with acting.

Her international breakthrough came in 1999 when she starred opposite Brendan Fraser in The Mummy, a global box-office success. She reprised her role in The Mummy Returns (2001). That same year, she appeared alongside Jude Law and Ed Harris in the war drama Enemy at the Gates, portraying a Russian resistance fighter.

Weisz continued to build a diverse filmography, appearing in both mainstream and independent cinema.
