Story Overview

Set in the final days of World War II, The Others unfolds on the remote and fog-shrouded island of Jersey, where a withdrawn woman named Grace (Nicole Kidman) lives in isolation with her two young children in a vast and austere Victorian mansion. While she waits for her husband to return from the war, Grace raises her children under strict rules, convinced that the house is the only place where they can remain safe.

That fragile sense of security begins to crumble when the household servants mysteriously disappear and are replaced by three unsettling newcomers. Soon after their arrival, strange and disturbing events ripple through the mansion. Grace’s daughter insists that unseen figures wander freely through the rooms, claiming she can see them—and speak to them. At first, Grace dismisses these claims as childish fantasies fueled by fear.

However, as the silence of the house grows heavier and inexplicable phenomena intensify, Grace herself begins to sense an unseen presence lurking within the walls. Doors open without reason, footsteps echo in empty corridors, and the boundary between the living and the unseen slowly dissolves. What begins as a story of maternal devotion and wartime isolation transforms into a chilling descent into paranoia, faith, and the terrifying possibility that the house may not belong to them at all.
