The Intern (2015)
Official Trailer
Plot Summary
Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway) is the driven founder and CEO of a fast-growing online fashion company. In an effort to bring new perspectives into the workplace, she launches an experimental senior intern program based on a suggestion from her employees—one designed specifically for retirees seeking a second chance at professional life.
The first participant in the program is 70-year-old Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro), a widower who refuses to let age define his usefulness or curiosity. With his classic suit, calm demeanor, and old-school work ethic, Ben immediately stands out among the company’s young, fast-paced staff, quietly raising the average age—and the emotional intelligence—of the office.
Assigned to work closely with Jules, Ben gradually proves that experience, patience, and empathy are just as valuable as innovation and speed. What begins as a simple professional arrangement slowly evolves into a genuine friendship, built on mutual respect and trust.
As Jules struggles to balance overwhelming business responsibilities with her personal life, Ben becomes an unexpected source of guidance and stability. The Intern is a warm and insightful story about generational connection, self-discovery, and the idea that it is never too late to learn, contribute, or start something new.
