Plot Summary

Jim (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his friends are teenagers standing at a difficult crossroads in life, united by their deep passion for basketball. Gifted and sensitive, Jim keeps a personal diary in which he records his thoughts, fears, and the events shaping his turbulent adolescence.

Yet neither his writing nor his love for the game is enough to shield him from a growing drug addiction. As substance abuse tightens its grip, Jim is expelled from school and cast out of his home, drifting further toward self-destruction and life on the streets.
