Plot Summary

Rocky follows the story of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), a poor and lonely boxer from the streets of Philadelphia who survives by collecting debts for local loan sharks while chasing a fading dream of success in the ring.

When the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) unexpectedly offers Rocky a chance at the title, the match is promoted as a publicity stunt—an easy exhibition fight meant to showcase Creed’s dominance.

For Rocky, however, the bout represents far more than a spectacle. It is the opportunity of a lifetime: a chance to prove his self-worth, earn dignity, and go the distance against the best in the world.
