Bruce Almighty (2003)
Official Trailer
Plot Summary
Despite being popular at work and having a loving girlfriend, television reporter Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) is convinced that life is treating him unfairly. Trapped in a career he believes is going nowhere, Bruce constantly blames fate for his frustrations and feels that the world is fundamentally mismanaged.
After experiencing what he considers the worst day of his life, Bruce angrily accuses God of ruining everything and failing at running the universe. To his surprise, God himself (Morgan Freeman) responds—and decides to put Bruce’s complaints to the test by granting him divine powers.
Suddenly endowed with the ability to alter reality, Bruce initially uses his newfound authority to satisfy personal desires and settle petty scores. However, as the consequences of his actions spiral out of control, he begins to understand that unlimited power comes with profound responsibility.
Bruce Almighty blends comedy with philosophical reflection, exploring free will, humility, and the true meaning of happiness, while questioning what it really means to be in control of one’s own life.
