Jennifer Aniston was born as Jennifer Linn Anastassakis on February 11, 1969, in Los Angeles, California. Her mother, Nancy Dow, was of Scottish descent, while her father, John Aniston, was of Greek origin and worked as an actor. She has two siblings. Although born in California, she was raised primarily in New York. Her father’s decision to change his surname and to choose the famous actor Telly Savalas as Jennifer’s godfather were early signs of his desire for his daughter to become part of the film and television world. When she was nine years old, her parents divorced.
