Before Sunrise (1995)
Official Trailer
Plot Summary
Before Sunrise is a quietly mesmerizing romantic drama that unfolds over the course of a single night in Vienna, capturing the fleeting magic of human connection. What begins as a chance encounter on a train becomes an intimate journey through conversation, curiosity, and emotional vulnerability.
Jesse and Celine (Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy), strangers brought together by coincidence, decide to spend a few hours walking the city before dawn. Aware that they must part ways by morning, they choose to fill the limited time they have with honest dialogue, philosophical musings, and spontaneous intimacy.
As the night progresses, their conversations drift effortlessly between love, life, fear, and the passage of time. The film finds its emotional power not in grand gestures, but in small moments—shared glances, thoughtful silences, and words spoken with the urgency of knowing they may never meet again.
Minimalist in structure yet rich in emotional depth, Before Sunrise explores the beauty of impermanence and the profound impact a single night can have on two lives. It stands as a timeless meditation on youth, connection, and the romantic possibility hidden within everyday encounters.
