Plot Summary

Set in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks, 12 Strong follows the first American Special Forces team deployed to Afghanistan. Led by Mitch Nelson (Chris Hemsworth), the unit becomes the first U.S. soldiers to set foot on Afghan soil, embarking on a mission that is as politically delicate as it is militarily dangerous.

Operating deep within Afghanistan’s rugged mountain terrain, the team must persuade General Dostum, leader of the Afghan United Islamic Front for the Salvation of Afghanistan, to join forces against the Taliban and their allies in Al-Qaeda. Mutual distrust, deep-rooted cultural differences, and incompatible methods of warfare initially threaten the alliance.

Forced to adapt to the unconventional and seemingly primitive tactics of Afghan horse-mounted fighters, the American soldiers face a brutal reality: they are heavily outnumbered and outgunned. As the fragile partnership is tested under relentless enemy pressure, survival depends not only on firepower, but on trust, resilience, and the willingness to fight alongside unlikely allies against a ruthless and determined enemy.
