Lewis Hamilton is the first Black racing driver in the history of Formula 1 and one of the most successful drivers the sport has ever seen.

Lewis Hamilton was born on January 7, 1985, in Stevenage, England. His full name is Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton. His mother is Carmen Larbalestier, a white British woman, and his father is Anthony Hamilton, who is Black. He completed his secondary education at John Henry Newman School. At just nine years old, Hamilton joined the Mercedes-Benz Young Driver Programme. While karting at Rye House Kart Circuit, he showed signs of extraordinary talent even in his early teens, impressing his coaches. He later continued his education at the private Cambridge Arts and Sciences college.

Lewis Hamilton began his professional racing career in 2001. He won the Formula Renault 2 championship in 2002, the Formula 3 championship in 2005, and the GP2 Series championship in 2006. These achievements paved the way for his entry into Formula 1.

On October 29, 2017, after finishing ninth at the Mexican Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton secured the 2017 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship two races before the end of the season, claiming his fourth world title.

In the 2018 Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton defeated Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel to secure his fifth Drivers’ Championship. He followed this success by winning his sixth championship in the 2019 season, finishing comfortably ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas.

At the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton broke Michael Schumacher’s seemingly unbreakable record of 91 Formula 1 race victories.

On November 15, 2020, at the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix held in Istanbul, Lewis Hamilton secured his seventh Formula 1 World Championship title, equaling Schumacher’s all-time record.
