Plot Summary

Shrek follows the story of a grumpy yet kind-hearted ogre named Shrek (Mike Myers), whose peaceful life in his swamp is disrupted by the tyrannical Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Determined to reclaim his home, Shrek reluctantly agrees to undertake a dangerous quest on Farquaad’s behalf.

Accompanied by the endlessly talkative and loyal Donkey (Eddie Murphy), Shrek sets out to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), who is imprisoned in a tower guarded by a fearsome dragon. What begins as a straightforward rescue mission soon turns into an unexpected journey of self-discovery.

As Shrek and Donkey travel together, unlikely friendships form and hidden truths emerge.
