Saving Mr. Banks (2014)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Saving Mr. Banks centers on the determined efforts of American filmmaker Walt Disney to keep a promise he made to his daughters: bringing the beloved character Mary Poppins to the big screen.

Before production can begin, Walt Disney must secure the approval of the novel’s fiercely protective author P.L. Travers. In 1961, Travers travels from London to Hollywood to negotiate the project, arriving with deep reservations about how her work will be adapted.

As discussions unfold, long-buried emotional wounds begin to surface. During her stay in California, Travers is forced to confront painful memories from her childhood in Australia, particularly her complicated relationship with her father, whose struggles inspired the character of Mr. Banks.

The film carefully portrays the creative and emotional tug-of-war between author and studio, revealing how personal trauma, artistic integrity, and compromise ultimately shaped one of cinema’s most enduring classics, Saving Mr. Banks
