Story Overview

Panic Room follows Meg Altman (Jodie Foster), who has recently divorced her husband and moves into a new house in New York with her young daughter Sarah (Kristen Stewart). The house hides a highly unusual feature: a secret, fortified chamber known as a panic room, built by the previous owner as a secure refuge in case of a break-in.

The panic room is designed like a vault, fully stocked with supplies and invisible to anyone unaware of its existence. It includes an independent phone line and a closed-circuit camera system that allows its occupants to monitor every corner of the house while remaining completely sealed inside.

One night, Meg realizes that intruders have broken into the house. Acting on instinct, she grabs Sarah and retreats into the panic room, believing they are safe. However, the burglars are not ordinary thieves—they are willing to commit murder to obtain what they came for, and the object they seek is hidden inside the very room meant to protect Meg and her daughter.

As the night turns into a relentless psychological battle, survival depends on intelligence, endurance, and nerve. Trapped within the confines of the panic room, Meg must outwit the intruders and protect her child at all costs, as Panic Room delivers a claustrophobic and suspense-driven exploration of fear, resilience, and maternal determination.
