Plot Summary

I Am Legend tells the story of military virologist Will Smith as Robert Neville, the last known survivor in New York, three years after a deadly virus wipes out most of humanity. The virus, originally engineered as a cure for cancer, mutates and turns the majority of the population into aggressive, light-sensitive creatures known as Darkseekers. Neville spends his days exploring the deserted city for supplies and broadcasting radio messages in hopes that other survivors might hear him.

Living with only his loyal dog Sam for companionship, Neville continues to work tirelessly on a cure inside his fortified laboratory. During the day he experiments with infected subjects, believing that science might still reverse the catastrophe. At night, however, he barricades himself inside his home as the Darkseekers emerge to hunt.

As loneliness and guilt weigh heavily on him, Neville begins to question whether he truly is the last human alive. His routine is disrupted when he encounters another survivor, Anna (Alice Braga), and a young boy named Ethan (Charlie Tahan). Their arrival offers a fragile hope for the future, but it also forces Neville to confront the cost of his relentless fight for humanity’s survival.
