Plot Summary

Presented by Warner Bros., Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second installment of the five-film saga set in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. The film expands the magical universe with darker themes, moral conflicts, and rising tensions between the wizarding and non-wizarding worlds.

The powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) is captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America) with the help of magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). However, Grindelwald soon escapes captivity and begins gathering followers, preaching the supremacy of pure-blood wizards in order to rule over non-magical humans. His growing influence threatens to tear the wizarding world apart.

To stop Grindelwald’s dangerous rise, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists the help of his former student Newt Scamander, who remains unaware of the true dangers and deceptions awaiting him. As Newt is drawn deeper into this escalating conflict, bonds of love, loyalty, and friendship are tested, and even the strongest families and alliances face division.

Directed by David Yates, the film once again stars Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. The ensemble cast includes Katherine Waterston as Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Carmen Ejogo as Seraphina Picquery, Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, Ezra Miller as Credence, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Johnny Depp as the enigmatic Grindelwald. Blending spectacle with emotional depth, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald explores the cost of power, the danger of ideology, and the fragile line between good and evil.
