A Little Chaos (2015)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

Set in 1682, A Little Chaos follows the quietly radical journey of Sabine De Barra, a gifted and independent landscape designer who refuses to conform to the rigid expectations imposed on women of her time. Rather than adapting herself to the social order of 17th-century France, Sabine chooses to challenge it, guided by her instinct, creativity, and unwavering sense of self.

While working in the French countryside, Sabine receives an unexpected and life-altering offer: to contribute to the gardens of the Palace of Versailles for King Louis XIV. Accepting the invitation, she joins the team led by the renowned royal architect Andre Le Notre. Tasked with designing one of Versailles’ main gardens, Sabine enters an environment defined by hierarchy, rivalry, and strict artistic conventions.

Unlike her peers, Sabine’s designs embrace natural movement and emotional expression rather than rigid symmetry. Her unconventional approach immediately sets her apart, drawing both admiration and resistance. As she endures professional jealousy and social discrimination, her resilience earns the trust of the King’s brother, gradually shifting her position within the court.

At the same time, the professional relationship between Sabine and Andre Le Notre begins to evolve, revealing emotional complexities beneath their shared creative vision. Against the backdrop of political power, artistic ambition, and personal sacrifice, A Little Chaos becomes an intimate portrait of creativity as an act of quiet defiance, and of love emerging where control once ruled.
