16 Blocks (2006)

Official Trailer

Plot Summary

16 Blocks follows Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis), a burned-out New York police detective counting the days until his retirement, with little left to care about beyond avoiding trouble. On a morning when every other detective in the city is chasing a major case, Mosley is assigned what seems like a routine task: escorting a fast-talking petty criminal, Eddie Bunker (Mos Def), to a courthouse just sixteen blocks away so he can testify before a grand jury.

At first, the only challenge appears to be Bunker’s relentless chatter and Mosley’s own exhaustion. However, the seemingly trivial journey quickly spirals into chaos when they are ambushed, revealing that powerful forces want Bunker silenced before he reaches the courtroom. As bullets fly and time runs out, the short walk through the city turns into a desperate race for survival.

Forced to confront his own moral fatigue, Mosley must decide whether to finally stand up for what is right or remain the detached cop he has become. As the conspiracy unfolds, the film transforms into a tense, real-time thriller about conscience, redemption, and the high price of telling the truth, where sixteen city blocks feel longer and more dangerous than a lifetime.
