Pedro Pascal is an internationally recognized actor, best known for his portrayal of Javier Peña in the Narcos television series produced by Netflix.
Pedro Pascal, whose full name is José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal, was born on April 2, 1975, in Santiago, Chile. During his childhood, he immigrated to the United States with his family and later moved to New York in 1996.
His family were supporters of Salvador Allende and outspoken opponents of Chile’s military dictator Augusto Pinochet. Due to political persecution, they sought asylum in the United States. Pedro Pascal grew up in Orange County, California, and San Antonio, Texas. As a child, he was a competitive swimmer and won several awards, but later paused his athletic pursuits due to the intensity of his acting studies. He received his education in California and has lived in New York since 1996.
Pedro Pascal has built a strong career not only in television and cinema but also in theater, where he has worked as both an actor and a director, earning multiple awards for his stage work. He is also a member of the prestigious Labyrinth Theatre Company in the United States.
In 2014, Pedro Pascal gained international attention by portraying Oberyn Martell in the Game of Thrones television series. In 2015, he appeared alongside Heidi Klum in the music video for Fire Meet Gasoline by Sia. That same year, he played the role of Max in the comedy film Bloodsucking Bastards.
In 2015, Pedro Pascal starred in the series Narcos, which depicts the life of Pablo Escobar, portrayed by Wagner Moura. In the series, Pascal played Javier Peña, a Mexican agent working for the Drug Enforcement Administration, alongside Boyd Holbrook, who portrayed an American DEA agent.
In 2016, Pedro Pascal appeared in the film The Great Wall alongside Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe. In 2017, he portrayed Jack Daniels (Whiskey) in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, directed by Matthew Vaughn, acting alongside Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges.
Pedro Pascal has also been noted for his personal life. He was reported to be living with actress Lena Headey, and on April 16, 2015, they welcomed a daughter named Teddy.
