Paul Walker was an American film actor born in 1973. A former model, he rose to international fame with his portrayal of police officer Brian O'Conner in the blockbuster franchise The Fast and the Furious (2001), a role that made him one of the most recognizable action stars of his generation.

Paul William Walker IV was born on September 12, 1973, in Glendale, California, to retired sewer contractor Paul William Walker III and former model Cheryl Crabtree. His grandfather, William “Irish” Billy Walker, was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack and a former U.S. Navy middleweight boxing champion, while his other grandfather commanded a tank unit under George S. Patton during the Italian campaign of World War II. Walker grew up with two younger brothers, Caleb Walker and Cody Walker, and a sister, Ashlie Walker, in a conservative Mormon family.

Raised in Glendale, Walker attended Alfred Nobel Elementary School and later Village Christian School, graduating in 1991. After high school, he studied marine biology at several colleges, driven by a lifelong fascination with the ocean and wildlife.

Walker began modeling in the late 1980s and transitioned into acting through low-budget films such as Monster in the Closet (1986) and Tammy and the T-Rex (1994). He appeared briefly in the soap opera The Young and the Restless between 1992 and 1993. His first exposure to a wider audience came with Meet the Deedles (1998), followed by the critically praised Pleasantville (1998), in which he starred opposite Reese Witherspoon.

Between 1999 and 2001, Walker became a familiar face among younger audiences with roles in Varsity Blues and She’s All That. His major breakthrough arrived in 2001 when he starred alongside Vin Diesel in The Fast and the Furious. The film was a global success and launched one of the most profitable franchises in cinema history. Walker reprised his role in multiple sequels, including 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), and Fast & Furious 6 (2013).

In 2002, Walker was named “Man of the Month” by MostBeautifulMan.com and was later included in People magazine’s list of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World.” He continued to headline action and adventure films such as Running Scared (2006) and the Disney production Eight Below (2006), which performed strongly at the box office. His performance in Running Scared was described by director Wayne Kramer as the role closest to Walker’s true personality.

Living in Santa Barbara and Huntington Beach, California, Walker was an avid surfer and practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He had a daughter, Meadow Rain Walker (born January 28, 1999), who lived with her mother in Hawaii. Walker was also known for his love of animals, owning several dogs and a horse.

Paul Walker died tragically on November 30, 2013, at the age of 40, in a car accident near Los Angeles while riding as a passenger in a vehicle driven by a friend. At the time of his death, he was filming the seventh installment of the *Fast & Furious* franchise.
