Jeff Daniels was born on February 19, 1955, in Athens, Georgia, United States. He is the son of Marjorie J. Daniels and Robert Lee Daniels, and has one brother named John Daniels. He grew up in Michigan, where his father owned a lumber company in Chelsea until his death in 2012. Jeff Daniels attended Central Michigan University, where he became actively involved in the school’s theater program, laying the foundation for his future acting career.

In addition to acting, Jeff Daniels is also known for his lesser-known talents as a songwriter and musician, having written original songs and performed music alongside his film and television work. This artistic versatility has contributed to his reputation as a multifaceted performer.

Jeff Daniels achieved global recognition in 1994 when he starred alongside Jim Carrey in the comedy classic Dumb and Dumber, portraying the character Harry Dunne. The film became a major box-office success and remains one of the most iconic comedies of the 1990s. On July 13, 1979, Jeff Daniels married Kathleen Rosemary Treado. The couple has three children: Benjamin (born 1984), Lucas (born 1987), and Nellie (born 1990). Despite his Hollywood success, Daniels has maintained a relatively private family life.
