Story Overview

Set in a Los Angeles hospital in the 1920s, The Fall tells the extraordinary story that develops between an injured stuntman named Roy Walker (Lee Pace) and a young immigrant girl named Alexandria (Catinca Untaru). Confined to their hospital beds, the unlikely pair form an emotional bond as Roy begins to tell Alexandria a fantastical story meant to distract her from the harsh realities of their surroundings.

Within Roy’s imagination unfolds a sweeping adventure about five heroes united by a desire for revenge. The tale introduces a masked bandit, an African runaway slave, an Indian mystic, an Italian anarchist, and a naturalist who have all been exiled to a mysterious and desolate island. As Alexandria listens, her vivid imagination reshapes Roy’s story, transforming it into a dazzling epic where myth, dream, and reality blend together.

Directed by Tarsem Singh, the film becomes both a breathtaking visual journey and a touching exploration of storytelling, friendship, and the fragile line between despair and hope. As Roy’s motives slowly surface and Alexandria’s innocence colors every detail of the tale, their shared fantasy grows into something far more powerful than either of them initially intended.
