Story Overview

The film Deepwater Horizon, in which the beautiful Kate Hudson shares the leading role with the world-renowned master actor John Malkovich, is directed by American filmmaker Peter Berg, known for his work on “The Rundown,” “The Kingdom,” Hancock, and Lone Survivor. The screenplay, written by Matthew Sand and Matthew Michael Carnahan, focuses on the true story of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, which caused the worst oil spill in U.S. history in April 2010 and resulted in a catastrophic disaster.

On April 20, 2010, the 126-member crew working on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig is carrying out its routine duties as usual. Having reached the end of their shift, everyone is eager to get back to shore and reunite with their loved ones. However, a series of violent explosions in the evening plunges the crew into shock. As an uncontrollable fire breaks out and continues for days, the team must fight to survive, finding themselves trapped in a hellish struggle between life and death.
