Plot Summary

Sensitive yet volatile mafia boss Paul Vitti (Robert De Niro) shocks everyone while still in prison by breaking into his own off-key rendition of West Side Story. The incident convinces the authorities that a psychiatric institution might be more appropriate than a maximum-security cell. Taking matters even further, they release Vitti under the supervision of his former therapist, Ben Sobel (Billy Crystal).

On the surface, Vitti appears to have turned over a new leaf, entering a seemingly legitimate and profitable line of work. Or at least, that is how it looks. But is the ever-anxious Sobel truly convinced that Vitti has abandoned his criminal instincts? Especially with familiar figures like Lou and Wrench still lurking in the background, the line between rehabilitation and relapse becomes dangerously thin.
