George Russell is a British Formula 1 racing driver who competes at the pinnacle of motorsport.

George Russell was born on February 15, 1998, in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England, as the son of Steve Russell and Alison Russell. He has two siblings named Benjy Russell and Cara Russell. Russell graduated from Wisbech Grammar School and began karting at the age of seven.

After achieving success in karting, including winning multiple championships such as the CIK-FIA European Karting Championship in 2012, George Russell transitioned to single-seater racing. He went on to win the GP3 Series championship in 2017 and the Formula 2 Championship in 2018.

Racing for ART Grand Prix in both series, George Russell became one of only three drivers to win both the GP3 and Formula 2 championships in their rookie seasons, highlighting his exceptional adaptability and talent.

Following his junior formula success, George Russell competed in Formula 1 with the Williams Racing team from 2019 to 2021. During the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, he replaced Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes but narrowly missed out on victory due to strategic errors during the race.

After serving as a member of the Mercedes Junior Driver Programme since 2017, George Russell was promoted to a full-time Mercedes Formula 1 race seat for the 2022 season. He secured his first Formula 1 career victory at the 2022 São Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil.

As of the 2024 Italian Grand Prix, George Russell had achieved two career victories, three pole positions, eight fastest laps, and thirteen podium finishes in Formula 1. He is contracted to race for Mercedes through the end of the 2025 season.

In 2024, George Russell claimed victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, adding another notable win to his career record.

George Russell has been in a relationship with Carmen Montero Mundt since 2020. Since 2022, he has been residing in Monaco.
