Plot Summary

The Life Before Her Eyes is a haunting psychological drama that explores the fragile boundary between memory, guilt, and imagined reality. The story centers on Diana, a suburban wife and mother whose seemingly stable life is quietly haunted by a traumatic event from her teenage years.

Years earlier, Diana survived a violent incident at her high school that left deep emotional scars. In the present, her ordinary routines are interrupted by intrusive memories and vivid recollections of a life that feels both distant and painfully immediate. As past and present begin to blur, the film gradually reveals how a single moment can fracture time itself.

The narrative unfolds through fragmented timelines, juxtaposing youthful innocence with adult disillusionment. Diana’s inner world becomes a psychological landscape shaped by loss, fear, and unresolved choices, leading the audience toward a devastating emotional revelation.

Directed by Vadim Perelman, The Life Before Her Eyes stars Uma Thurman in a restrained and deeply introspective performance. She is joined by Evan Rachel Wood as the younger Diana, with supporting roles from Eva Amurri and Brett Cullen. The film offers a somber meditation on trauma, survival, and the lives we imagine as a refuge from unbearable truth.
