Story Overview

The Age of Adaline follows the extraordinary life of Adaline Bowman, a woman born at the turn of a new century whose fate is forever altered after a mysterious accident grants her eternal youth. From the age of 29 onward, Adaline ceases to age, remaining physically unchanged as decades pass and the world around her evolves.

Condemned to a life of secrecy, Adaline chooses isolation over attachment, avoiding deep relationships to protect the truth behind her condition. She witnesses wars, technological revolutions, and cultural transformations from a distance, carrying the emotional weight of outliving everyone she has ever loved.

Her carefully controlled existence begins to unravel when she meets the charismatic Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman), whose warmth and sincerity awaken emotions she has long suppressed. For the first time in years, Adaline allows herself to imagine a future shaped by love rather than fear.

However, a weekend spent with Ellis’s family brings her dangerously close to exposure, particularly through an unexpected connection with William Jones (Harrison Ford), a man from her distant past. Faced with the possibility of losing everything, Adaline must choose between eternal solitude and the vulnerability required to truly live.
