Story Overview

Sicario: Day of the Soldado intensifies the ruthless world established in Sicario by exploring the next phase of the covert war along the U.S.–Mexico border, where the lines between justice, revenge, and political strategy are deliberately erased.

When drug cartels begin smuggling terrorists across the U.S. border, federal agent Josh Brolin’s Matt Graver reactivates his partnership with the elusive operative Alejandro. Haunted by the massacre of his family at the hands of a cartel leader, Alejandro is assigned a calculated mission: escalate the conflict and provoke an internal cartel war.

To ignite this chaos, Alejandro kidnaps the daughter of a powerful cartel boss, a move designed to destabilize the criminal hierarchy. However, the operation takes an unexpected moral turn when the young girl is reclassified as civilian collateral, placing her fate entirely in the hands of two men operating far beyond the reach of law or accountability.

Directed by Stefano Sollima, known for his uncompromising work on ACAB - All Cops Are Bastards and Suburra, the film abandons any pretense of moral clarity. Anchored by the commanding performances of Josh Brolin and Academy Award–winner Benicio Del Toro, the cast also includes Isabela Moner, Matthew Modine, Catherine Keener, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Jeffrey Donovan, Christopher Heyerdahl, and Ian Bohen.

With stark cinematography by Dariusz Wolski and a haunting, minimalist score composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir, Sicario: Day of the Soldado delivers a bleak and unflinching portrait of modern warfare—where violence is institutionalized, innocence is expendable, and survival often replaces morality as the ultimate objective.
