Phone Booth (2003)
Official Trailer
Plot Summary
Phone Booth centers on Stu Shepard (Colin Farrell), an ambitious and self-absorbed publicist climbing the ladder of success in New York. Image-driven and morally flexible, Stu’s carefully constructed life hinges on deception—including an affair conducted through a particular public phone booth he believes offers anonymity.
Everything changes when Stu answers a ringing phone after finishing a call. On the other end is a calm, unseen stranger who claims to be watching him from a nearby building. The voice belongs to a ruthless sniper (Kiefer Sutherland), who makes one rule chillingly clear: if Stu hangs up or leaves the booth, he will be killed.
Trapped in full public view, Stu is forced into a psychological standoff as the sniper exposes his lies, manipulates his fears, and dismantles the persona he has built. What begins as a deadly game of control quickly turns into a public reckoning, as police, media, and bystanders gather around the unfolding crisis.
Confined almost entirely to a single location, Phone Booth transforms a mundane urban object into a crucible of guilt, truth, and survival. The film delivers relentless tension while examining themes of accountability, ego, and the cost of living behind carefully maintained façades—where escape is impossible, and honesty becomes the only chance at redemption.
