Story Overview

Nuremberg is a gripping historical drama set in the aftermath of World War II, during the landmark Nuremberg Trials. The film centers on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, who is assigned to evaluate the mental fitness of high-ranking Nazi officials awaiting trial, including one of the most powerful figures of the Third Reich, Hermann Göring.

Kelley’s task extends far beyond clinical assessment. He must determine whether these men—accused of orchestrating some of history’s darkest atrocities—are psychologically competent to stand trial. As he conducts a series of intense interviews, he finds himself confronting unsettling questions about the nature of evil, ideological fanaticism, and personal accountability.

His encounters with Hermann Göring evolve into a psychological duel. Göring’s calculated intelligence, composure, and manipulative charisma challenge Kelley’s professional detachment and moral certainty. What begins as a medical evaluation gradually transforms into a battle of wills, blurring the line between observer and subject.

Nuremberg delivers a powerful exploration of justice, sanity, and ethical responsibility at a pivotal moment in modern history. Through intimate psychological confrontations, the film portrays not only the reckoning of war criminals, but also the internal struggle of a man forced to examine the limits of reason in the face of unimaginable crimes.
